Destinations-Cochabamba

The city of eternal spring lies at the heart of Bolivia , halfway between the tropical plains of the east and the high Altiplano. Economically the region around Cochabamba is of vital importance to the country; the Cochabamba valley one of the agricultural hearts of Bolivia. The tropical lowlands of the Chaparé to the east are the world's biggest producer of coca leaves, the raw material for cocaine. Despite the construction boom Cochabamba underwent in the last decades, the city center still retains much of its colonial character.

  Cochabamba has an airport with regular national flights. Bus connections with Bolivia 's main cities ( La Paz app. 7 hrs, Sucre app. 13 hrs, Santa Cruz app. 16 hrs).

  There are no 5-star hotels, the best option in town is the colonial style Hotel Aranjuez, another top option is the Gran Hotel Cochabamba with a beautiful garden. There are good quality 3- and 4-star accommodations.
