Testimonials
Anne Schneider at Lake Titicaca Dear Aimee and PFL,

Our trip to Peru was by far the best foreign travel experience I've ever had! To begin, Aimee was an angel to help plan the two week trip... she carefully considered our style, dreams, and goals for the trip... and it all manifested in our extensive personal itinerary. I'm recommending Peru For Less to everyone I know!

Changing the Face of Beauty with Ingredients from
Brazil' s Jungle

Brazil has reigned in the tourism industry for its lavish Carnival celebrations, tropical climate, pristine beaches, passion for soccer and natural richness. There, a new industry is rapidly emerging and changing the face of beauty.

Sourced with ingredients from Brazil’s Amazon jungle, cosmetic, toiletry and fragrance exports are a booming industry that has experienced an increase of more than 152% in the five years between 2001 and 2006.

Ever since ancient times, the healing and rejuvenating properties of Amazonian plants have been recognized and used by natives. The guaraná berry has been used as a stimulant while açai is consumed for is high antioxidant content. Meanwhile, the fruit of the cupuaçu tree contains oil noted for its moisturizing capabilities and passion fruit is known to calm nerves. These age old natural remedies are now being repackaged for the international market in cosmetics and beauty care.

While South America is the primary destination for Brazilian beauty products, the Brazilian government is aiding in the expansion of their export market. The Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, a government body that has been devoted to generating and broadening overseas markets for Brazilian goods since 2003, along with Abihpec, have collaborated so that dozens of small- and medium-sized Brazilian companies have had the opportunity to display their products at international trade fairs in regions such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

With over 13,000 plant species and a beauty market that thrives on the word “natural”, Brazil’s triumph is obvious. Industry executives and Brazilian producers attribute their successes to their image of purity: they call it “Brazilianness” and are certain that it is the principal dynamic behind escalating sales.
