Hi JP,
The trip was WONDERFUL, and both Joanne and I are certain that Peru for Less was a big part of the great time we had. We'll recommend you to anyone. You took all the work out of it and left only the fun.
Jim & Joanne,Peru dips its toe into world of international cricket
When one thinks of South American sport, images of soccer immediately spring to mind. Think a bit harder and one might envisage surfers or polo players. It is unlikely that cricket, that most ‘English’ of games, would have registered. Nonetheless, the game has an honorable tradition here in Peru, and has recently been making waves – well, ripples – on the international scene.
The Lima Cricket Club was founded in 1859 by the English community and continues in existence today, albeit having added the word ‘Football’ to its name in 1906. However, it was not until last year that Peru was recognized by Cricket’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), as an ‘affiliate member’, taking its place alongside such other giants of the game as Vanuatu, Myanmar and Swaziland!
The upshot of this is that in February Peru will be taking part in the week-long ICC Americas Senior Division 3 Championship in Buenos Aires, facing Brazil, Suriname, the Turks & Caicos Islands and, old rivals, Chile. We wish them all the best.
