Day 1 : Mountain Biking Cusco to Santa Maria

- After an early breakfast at your Cusco hotel, your guide will meet you for the drive to the Malaga Pass. This viewpoint, located at 13,900 feet looks over the snowy Wakaywillca Peak and the Veronica Glacier.
- Here, you’ll start an exciting mountain bike tour descending into the lush temperate forests of the Eastern Andes. Keep a lookout for unique bird species like the Crested Quetzal, the sword-billed hummingbird, the scarlet-bellied tanager, the Inca Wren, and the massive Andean Condor. Enjoy a rewarding dinner near the Urubamba River where you will camp for the night.
Day 2 : Hiking Santa Maria to Santa Teresa

- After a high energy breakfast, you´ll hike up to the village of Santa Teresa, smelling the earthy scents of coffee, tea, and cacao terraces along the way. You´ll see the sacred mountain of Salkantay, a spectacular view often speckled with indigenous birds such as toucans, motmots, and parakeets.
- You´ll have lunch in Pacamayo Valley, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the Sacsara River. Later that afternoon after a full day of hiking, you will dine and camp alongside the river.
Day 3 : Hike to Patallacta & Train to Aguas Calientes

- Rising early for breakfast, you´ll take a drive to the Quechua town of Lucmabamba, from where you´ll trek to Patallacta, the Inca crossroads between three valleys. You can eat your boxed lunch here while catching your first glimpse of Machu Picchu.
- Then you´ll take a train to Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu, where you will be free to explore the town’s varied restaurants, before spending the night in your confirmed hotel. See our selection of excellent Machu Picchu hotels.
Day 4 : Machu Picchu Visit & Return to Cusco

- After breakfast at your hotel, you´ll head to the bus station for the 20-minute ride up to the citadel of Machu Picchu, where you will have the morning to explore this world-renowned natural wonder at your leisure.
- You´ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch, before taking the train back to Cusco.
