Day 1 : Arrival to Iquitos & Transfer to Yarapa Lodge
- You will be met at the airport by a Peru For Less representative who will transfer you to the port at Nauta, where you will board a boat for the journey up the Amazon River to the Yarapa Lodge.
- After settling in to your cabana, head to the lodge’s dining room to enjoy a delicious lunch. A naturalist guide will give you an orientation and security briefing and then you’ll set off on your first jungle excursion with a hike through the rainforest.
- You’ll return to the lodge for a relaxing dinner and evening.
Day 2 : Lake Tour & Jungle Expedition
- After an early breakfast, you’ll head out on a boat trip to visit three remote and pristine lakes populated by exotic birds, various species of monkeys, and the extraordinary pink dolphin.
- Enjoy lunch at the lodge and then embark on an afternoon hike through the jungle. Your naturalist guide will point out wildlife as well as the many medicinal plants found in the area.
- In the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to go on a boat cruise and explore the nocturnal side of the Amazon, when a whole other set of critters comes to life.
Day 3 : Giant Water Lilies & Native Village Tour
- Today you’ll go on a trek to visit the famous giant water lilies known as Victoria Regia or Victoria Amazonica. With luck, you might even spot the fascinating pre-historic Hoatzin bird.
- In the afternoon, after lunch back at the lodge, you’ll visit a native rainforest settlement. Later, you’ll go on a canoe trip and learn how to operate these traditional dug-out canoes.
- After dinner, you’ll have another chance to explore the Amazon with a nighttime caiman-spotting boat trip.
Day 4 : Departure from Iquitos
- After an early breakfast, you will set off on a jungle hike to see macaws and other beautiful birds that populate the rainforest.
