Experience the culture of Vicos, a small mountain pueblo hidden deep in the Cordillera Blanca Mountain Range. This 5-day cross-cultural immersion experience will give you a taste of Andean lifestyle that few outsiders get to experience. You’ll see the dynamics of indigenous family life and participate in various projects to help the local community.

Day 1 : Arrival to Vicos

• Today, you will be taken to Vicos, a small village situated near the magnificent Huascaran National Park in the Cordillera Blanca. Here you will be welcomed by the entire community, and meet the family that will host you for the next few days.
• You’ll be welcomed with a delicious traditional Andean meal, and will spend the afternoon learning about the hard task of cooking with an adobe oven. You will also have some time to explore the village and meet more members of the community.

Day 2 - 4: Cultural Experience & Community Service

• For the next few days, you will spend your time learning about the community’s lifestyle, meeting farmers, artisans, musicians, and school children.
• You will also have the unique opportunity to participate in a community service project to help improve the living conditions of your host community. The project you will be involved in can be related to a number of issues, including developing environmental awareness into the school system, planting native trees to restore the local woodlands, or building smokeless stoves.
• There will be plenty of opportunities to learn about the Quechua language and culture with your host family and the other members of the Vicos community. If you are interested, you may also meet the local shaman to learn about medicinal plants and healing. 

Day 5 : Departure from Vicos

• On your final day in Vicos, you can choose to go on a trek to a nearby hidden lagoon located in the Huascaran National Park. From 15,800 feet, you can enjoy fabulous views of the Cordillera Blanca and Huascaran, the tallest mountain in Peru.
• After the hike, you’ll enjoy a traditional Pachamanca meal with your host family, before saying goodbye to your new friends and meeting your transfer back to Huaraz.
