Day 1 : Arrival to Puerto Maldonado & Transfer to Posada Amazonas

- Upon arrival at the Puerto Maldonado airport, you will be met by your English-speaking guide and taken to the Puerto Maldonado headquarters where you’ll have the chance to repack your bags. Weight on the boats is limited so you’ll be asked to take only what you need for your jungle stay.
- You will then take a 45-minute boat ride to the Posada Amazonas lodge located in the Infierno community on the Tambopata River.
- After a brief orientation and security briefing, your guide will take you on a short walk to the nearby 90-foot tall canopy tower where you can enjoy breathtaking views from above the jungle. You’ll also be able to spot various species of birds, including toucans, parrots, and macaws.
- After dinner back at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a fascinating lecture on eco-tourism in the Infierno community.
Day 2 : Oxbow Lake, Parrot Clay Lick & Centro Nape Tour

- Early in the morning, you’ll take a short boat ride followed by a 45-minute hike to the Tres Chimbadas Lake. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to paddle around the lake in a catamaran, trying to spot the family of giant otters that lives there. You’re also likely to see caimans, hoatzin, and monkeys. You can also fish for piranhas if you’re up for the challenge.
- Later in the morning you’ll have the opportunity to visit a nearby parrot clay lick. From a blind located about 65 feet (20 meters) away from the clay lick you will see dozens of parrots and parakeets descending to ingest the clay on the river bank.
- After lunch back at the lodge, you’ll take a 20-minute boat ride to Centro Nape, a communal organization that produces medicinal plants.
- In the late afternoon, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening at the lodge.

- After lunch, you’ll visit a large farm where crops unique to the Amazon are grown. You’ll learn about the many plant and trees grown here.

- After settling into your new room, you’ll go on a hike along the Brazil Nut Trail with your expert naturalist guide. You will learn about the nut gathering process and its importance for the economy of the local community.
