Day 1 : Arrival to Cusco

• Upon arrival to the Cusco airport, you will be picked up by a PFL representative and taken to your confirmed hotel. Cusco sits at 3,400 m or 11,160 feet above sea level and it’s a good idea to have a slow-paced first day in order to acclimatize. Day 2 : Cusco Tour

• Enjoy a relaxing morning. Have breakfast and explore the historic streets of Cusco on your own.
• In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Cusco. In the company of your expert guide, you will visit some of the many amazing archaeological and historic sites around the city, including the Cathedral (which is located on the Plaza de Armas - or the main square), as well as the monolithic ruins of Sacsayhuaman and the Inca baths at Tambomachay.

Day 3 : Sacred Valley Tour

• Explore the beautiful Peruvian countryside during a full-day tour of the magical Sacred Valley. First you will visit the town of Pisac, known for its lively market. Here you will have the opportunity to browse the beautiful displays of Andean handicrafts, garments, jewelry, and textiles.
• Next you will visit the impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo. This tiny Sacred Valley village is an original Inca city, founded as the royal estate of the Inca Emperor Pachacuti. Although most famous for its ruins that overlook the valley, the city streets, laid out as they were 500 years ago, provide insight into Inca urban planning.
• In the evening, you will return to your comfortable Cusco hotel.You will once again have an opportunity to further explore the city and dine in one of the many fine restaurants or bars available in the area.

Day 4 : Machu Picchu Tour

• After breakfast at your Cusco hotel you will take a train to the hidden temple of the Incas: Machu Picchu. The train tracks wind along the river, offering passengers dramatic views of the Andes as the train enters verdant cloud forests.
• Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu, you will head to the bus station for a 20-minute ride up to the secluded citadel, where you will enjoy a fascinating tour of the ruins with an English-speaking guide. Highlight include Intihuatana (the Sun Stone), the Royal Temple, and the Room of 3 Windows.
• After your tour, you have the option to explore more of the site on your own and capture some final photos. Some take advantage of Machu Picchu’s spiritual setting to meditate and whisper a thank you to Pachamama, the Inca’s Mother Nature, for the incredible experience of visiting Machu Picchu.
• In the afternoon, you will take a comfortable train back to Cusco. You also have the option to stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes, the town at the foot of Machu Picchu.

Day 5 : Arrival to Puerto Maldonado

• Meet your transfer to the airport for an early flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival you will immediately board a riverboat and journey to your jungle lodge. Your Amazon lodge is located in the territory of the Ese'eja native community and is built with the same materials and architectural techniques as those used by the native communities throughout the Amazon. As you leave the city of Puerto Maldonado behind, the tranquility of the rainforest will absorb you and you sail down on the Tambopata River.
• That evening you will enjoy a delicious dinner in the lodge restaurant. Tuck in early to get ready for your jungle tour at the break of dawn.

Day 6 : Amazon Tour

• At dawn, a short hike brings you to a clay lick, where parrots and macaws come to feed. After breakfast, you will have time to try to spot giant river otters, turtles, hoatzin, and wading birds as you explore the surrounding jungle.
• In the afternoon, your expert naturalist guide will take you on a walk through the forest, pointing out hidden animals and indigenous plants. After dinner, a night tour allows wildlife enthusiasts to witness nocturnal creatures come to life. You can also just relax in the warm jungle evening with the sounds of the wild to lure you to sleep.

Day 7 : Amazon Tour

• At dawn you can go for another optional visit to the clay lick. After breakfast, you will go for a hike accompanied by an Ese'eja native who will explain how the forest is used in their everyday life for food, medicine, construction materials, and more.  You will enjoy a delicious local meal for lunch before heading off in the afternoon for another hike that will take you down a trail that crosses a floodplain and a bamboo forest. This trail will offer yet a different variety of flora and fauna for you to enjoy.
• You will return before dark to the jungle lodge for your last evening in the Peruvian rainforest.

Day 8 : Departure from Puerto Maldonado

Sacred Valley Full Day Horseback Riding to Maras Moray Salt Mines

Enjoy a horseback riding adventure across the Sacred Valley to the Maras Salt Mines and the Moray agricultural terraces. Camping at Ollantaytambo (Sacred Valley)

Horseback Riding to Cachicata Inca Stone Quarries

Maras Moray Salt Mines Full Day Tour

The Inca archaeological site of Moray is the oldest known horticultural experimental center in the world. Each terraced level has a different micro-climate in which different crops can be grown. The circular terraces descend to 492 feet (150 meters) and the temperature difference between the upper and lower terraces is up to 59F (15C).

Maras, 4 km from Moray, is the site of pre-Inca salineras (salt ponds). Each terraced pond is polygonal in shape; salty water emerges from an underground spring, flows into the ponds, and evaporates with the sun. The Maras salineras are still active today and maintained cooperatively by the community.

Muña Restaurant in the lovely Sacred Valley provides the venue for this ceramic class. Participants will learn the basics of Peruvian pottery-making and craft a personal piece to take home. A prestigious Peruvian ceramic artist will walk you through the entire process from preparing raw clay to learning traditional painting designs and methods. You will then use the techniques you just learned to create a one of a kind work of art.
