Day 2 : Cusco Tour

- You will have the morning to relax and explore the city on your own. Cusco has excellent museums, thriving markets, and relaxing cafes, all beckoning for a visit.
- In the early afternoon, you’ll start your Cusco tour, which will take you to the best archaeological sites and attractions in and around the city. You will see the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas and Santo Domingo Church, former site of the Qorikancha, or Temple of the Sun. On Cusco’s outskirts, you’ll visit Sacsayhuaman, Q'enko, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay.
- Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Enjoy Cusco’s attractions at your leisure; check out our Cusco Travel Guide for suggestions.
Day 3 : Sacred Valley Tour

- The Sacred Valley is one of Peru’s most unforgettable landscapes. Historically, the valley was the cradle within which the Inca Empire developed into the most powerful civilization in South America. Today, it provides a gorgeous setting for exploration of archaeological treasures and a taste of modern life in this bustling base for trips to Machu Picchu. Your full-day Sacred Valley tour begins in the town of Pisac, renowned for its artisan and agricultural markets. You can shop for handicrafts, garments, textiles, jewelry, and more.
- The impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo are a must see on this Peru vacation. The tiny Sacred Valley village of the same name is an original Inca city, first established as the royal estate of the Inca Pachacuti and which later served as a stronghold in the Inca’s rebellion against Spanish rule. Climb to the top of the ruins for magnificent view of the valley.
- After the tour, you will be taken to your comfortable hotel in the Sacred Valley where you can spend the remainder of the day at your leisure.
Day 4 : Machu Picchu Tour

- After breakfast at your hotel you will board the train for a 1.5-hour ride to Aguas Calientes, followed by a 20-minute bus ride to the hidden temple of the Incas to enjoy a guided tour of the site. Your expert guide will tell you all about Machu Picchu’s fascinating history from Inca times to the present.
- In the late afternoon, you will return to Aguas Calientes and take the train back to Cusco, where you’ll be able to rest and spend the evening at your leisure.
Day 5 : Arrival to Puno

- After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport, bus terminal, or train station for the next part of your Peru vacation in Puno. You will be met in Puno by a Peru For Less representative who will take you to your comfortable hotel where you can relax and enjoy the evening at your leisure.
- For travel between Cusco and Puno, learn about the differences between the first-class bus versus the luxury train.
Day 6 : Lake Titicaca Tour

- Your full-day Lake Titicaca tour takes you to the lake’s most fascinating islands. The first of these is Uros Islands, which consist of approximately 32 floating islands constructed of thick woven mats of Totora reeds. The exact number of islands is variable because they are periodically remade by hand and abandoned after a period of time. You’ll have a chance to meet some of the residents of these islands and you’ll also learn about local customs, visit the reed homes, and ride on reed boats. Generally the families inhabiting the island will have a small display of traditional local handicrafts available for sale as well.
- The Island of Taquile, the next stop, is abundant with numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins. Islanders still maintain many ancient traditions, reflected in their clothing and beautiful handicrafts. You will visit the most important sites, such as the museum of traditional costumes and the ruins at the highest point of the island where you can see an incredible sunset.
Day 7 : Departure from Puno

- After breakfast at your hotel, meet your transfer to the airport for your journey home.
- Alternatively, continue your exciting Peru vacation by choosing one of our additional exciting Puno tours, or browse our full range of Peru travel destinations to continue your exploration of this country’s wonders.

Maras Moray Salt Mines Full Day Tour
The Inca archaeological site of Moray is the oldest known horticultural experimental center in the world. Each terraced level has a different micro-climate in which different crops can be grown. The circular terraces descend to 492 feet (150 meters) and the temperature difference between the upper and lower terraces is up to 59F (15C).

Sillustani Tour
On the outskirts of Puno you will find mysterious pre-Inca ruins called Chullpas (funeral towers). They sit on the windswept altiplano on a peninsula in Lake Umayo at Sillustani. The Colla people, a warrior tribe that spoke Aymara, buried their elite in giant cylindrical tombs, some as tall as 12 meters high (40 ft.). The stonemasonry is exquisite (many archaeologists and historians find them more complex and superior even to Inca engineering) and the structures form quite an impression on such a harsh landscape.
*Since the Sillustani group tour is an afternoon tour, it may be necessary to book an extra night in Puno. This depends on each individualized itinerary.

Overnight on Lake Titicaca - Amantani Island or Luquina community
Enjoy an overnight stay with an Andean family on the Amantani Island of Lake Titicaca.
Day 1: Your day will begin with an early morning pickup at 8 a.m. from your hotel and transfer to the pier where you will board your boat. After a 40-minute boat ride you will reach the man-made reed Islands of Uros. Here you will learn how the ancient Aymara people constructed these islands to escape persecution from Inca soldiers. After learning about their culture and lifestyle, you will board your boat once more and sail toward Amantani Island or to the Luquina community.
Amantani Island stay: On Amantani, your host family will greet you upon arrival and take you to your new home for lunch and a short rest. In the late afternoon you will enjoy a tour of the ruins located at the top of the island. From this point you will be able see both the Peruvian and Bolivian shores of Lake Titicaca. From there you will return to your home for dinner and a short rest before attending the optional party of music and dancing with Amantani residents.
Luquina community stay: Your hosts on Luquina Islands belong to the Aymaran community. They will welcome you into their home, where you will have the unique opportunity to discover their traditional way of life. Off the beaten path, this small community is located amidst truly breathtaking scenery. After settling in and meeting your host family, you’ll have the chance to hike to the top of the nearby mountain to enjoy a spectacular sunset on Lake Titicaca. You’ll come back for dinner and evening with your family.
Day 2: Enjoy an early breakfast before you are back on the boat for the trip to Taquile Island. Here you will hike towards the main town for a delicious lunch. Then you will continue on a challenging* hike to the other side of the island where your boat to Puno awaits.
It is important for travelers to remember that while the Lake Titicaca homestays are a beautiful and worthwile experience, they should be prepared for very basic accommodations and meals. The houses of the Amantani people are humble but warm and clean. In some cases, bathrooms are outhouses.
*This part of the tour features many up and downhill stairs. Though not extremely strenuous, the region’s high altitude may make the journey difficult for some. Therefore this tour might not be appropriate for travelers with walking difficulties and/or senior citizens.
