Day 1 : Huchuy Qosqo Trek
- After an early morning pick up from your hotel, you will be driven through the winding hills of the Sacred Valley until reaching the Piuray Lagoon, located near the town of Chinchero and the starting point of this 9-hour trek. You will be rewarded with the breathtaking sight of the sun’s early morning rays on Mount Veronica, slowly lighting up the entire Vilcabamba Range.
- After a brief uphill start you will begin to descend over the altiplano to the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo. These well-preserved ruins are characterized by double jamb doorways, 3-story houses, and mixed constructions of stone and adobe, sprawling over the mountain top and surrounded by spectacular views of the Sacred Valley.
- After enjoying a hearty and delicious lunch under the shade of the Queñua trees (Andean Oak), you will continue hiking across open country before descending a steep trail on the face of the mountain.
- Transportation will be waiting in the village of Lamay, your destination, to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
