Amazon Cruise Ship: M/V Aqua

The custom built Aqua River Ship is the first luxury cruise ship to set sail on the vast Amazon River. The cruise liner gives travelers the opportunity to experience the natural wonders of some of the most remote areas in Peru’s rainforest within the lavishness on board of this fully equipped vessel that sails year round.

Description

Constructed in 2007, the excellent Aqua embarks from the largest Peru Amazon city of Iquitos at a cruising speed of 10 knots. The ship includes numerous safety precautions such as a satellite phone, radio communication, life jackets, fire extinguishers, flares and signals, and smoke detectors in each cabin, along with three auxiliary aluminum boats that seat up to 8 passengers. A paramedic is also part of the 17-member staff on this ship that can accommodate up to 24 guests, ensuring that each traveler is given the attention they need.

Guests can enjoy a first-rate meal on the ship’s elegantly-decorated dining room that boasts fine china, crystal, and outstanding service by a friendly staff that is ready to cater to any guest’s wishes. The excellent chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino will prepare a delicious dinner that is both Peruvian and European influenced, and a South American vintage wine completes the meal that can be adjusted to accommodate special dietary needs if need be.

Aqua boasts indoor and outdoor lounges where guests can enjoy a tropical cocktail within the comforts of an air-conditioned bar inside or enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Peruvian Amazon on a patio sofa outside. Visitors are also invited on the top-level observation deck where they can take a quick siesta, do a bit of sunbathing or simply watch the river go by. Finally, there is a lovely boutique available on-board where guests can purchase unique indigenous arts and crafts from area that will serve as a wonderful reminder of the Peru Amazon.
