The Hotel Arqueologo is located a few minutes from the Plaza de Armas, in the heart of Cusco. Description
The building that now contains the hotel was originally a colonial house built upon the foundations of Inca terracing. The result of this architectural blending is exquisite: the rooms are centered around an idyllic colonial courtyard and garden where Spanish arches sit atop Inca stone columns. The 650-square-feet garden itself is a marvel with native flowers, trees, and shrubbery that can be admired from the comfortable outdoor seating.
Moving inside the hotel, guests will be welcomed in the lobby which retains a rustic colonial feel. This gorgeous stone lounge is supplemented with a bar and a black stone fireplace, soft pastel-colored sofas, and wooden furniture atop Andean textile rugs. Overall, the hotel is a very peaceful option and is recommended for travelers looking for a quiet visit to the city and its surroundings.
Hotel Arqueologo’s spacious restaurant is furnished with elegant chairs and tables of dark wood and dotted with plants. The food is tasty and includes chiefly local and regional ingredients and dishes. Guests are provided with a delicious buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, and fresh bread. The small-paned windows provide a fantastic view of Cusco’s terracotta rooftops. There is also a bar in the Hotel Arqueologo lobby that serves various drinks, snacks, hot coffee and tea, as well as a cafeteria named La Vie en Rose which is open all day.
Room Amenities
All of the 20 rooms at Hotel Arqueologo are peaceful and very comfortable. They are decorated in warm and natural color schemes with clean and fresh white bedding that stands out from rich brown wooden flooring and furniture. Each has a private bathroom alongside ample amenities and a balcony. The Inka Suites are the most luxurious of these; they are large rooms with a king-size bed draped with white linen, all with a spectacular panoramic view of Cusco complimented by pleasant views into the garden. Suites also include a hair dryer, cable TV, and wireless Internet. With attention to the environment, rooms are powered by both gas and solar energy which is useful in helping to fuel comforts such as heating.
