Located on the Las Nazarenas square between the bohemian San Blas district and the main
square. Hotel Monasterio is approximately 10 minutes by car from the airport and a few short
minutes by foot from the Plaza de Armas, where Cuzco's Cathedral and most important
museums are located. It is an average of 15 minutes by car to the most important
archeological monuments that surround the city: Sacsayhuamán, Quenko, Puca Pucará, and
Tambomachay.

Description:

The Monasterio Hotel is operated by Orient-Express and is on of the Leading Small Hotels of the World Properties. Converted into a hotel in 1995, the Hotel Monasterio exudes grace and luxury. A stay at the Monasterio allows you to experience days and nights in the hallowed colonial San Antonio Abad seminary, built more than 300 years ago.;The seminary is an excellent example of 17th century architecture (Andean Baroque) which offers a unique atmosphere.

Garden Monasterio Cuzco
Hotel Monasterio Pictures

There are 4 charming beautifully maintained courtyards surrounded by colonial arcade and lovely gardens and fountains transporting you back into historic times for a exceptional encounter with Cuzco's Inca and Spanish traditions, while providing the comforts and quality of a modern five-star hotel that the Monasterio certainly is.

As much a museum as a hotel, Monasterio has its own opulent gilded chapel and 18th-century Escuela Cusqueña art collection. The Chapel, dating from the colonial times, has been restored and contains an altar and "retables" covered in gold leaf and paintings from the Cusquenian School.

You can feel the presence of the past even if you are pampered with every luxury and modern comfort. At night the view of the stars from the Monasterio’s courtyard, soft lighting, and sounds from the fountain are truly serene.

Peru for Less will be pleased to book your reservations at the Monasterio for the lowest possible price and you too can live like royalty while enjoying the charms of Cuzco and the surrounding area. We highly recommend this elegant hotel.

Room Amenities:

Rooms are impeccably decorated in both colonial and modern styles. The accommodations off the first courtyard are more traditionally designed with an authentic feeling. For a special treat, consider one of the two-story suite. There are 109 Guest Rooms, 12 Junior Suites, 1 Deluxe Suite, 2 Royal Suites and 3 Presidential Suites. The decorations and furnishings are a tasteful combination of colonial and modern styles.

The original architecture and design of the Monasterio has not been significantly altered, and thus the rooms do reflect their origins as a home for Jesuit seminarians. There are no 2 rooms alike and they all vary in size and format. The decoration and furnishings combine the best of modern and traditional Spanish colonial style, many of them with charming views of the city or the colorful rooftops of Cuzco.

The Hotel Monasterio has addressed the altitude sickness problem by introducing the oxygen supplementation system in most of the rooms

El Tupay offers a colorful Inca Dinner complete with traditional Inca fare and music and dances from the Inca times, “paying tribute to the Sacred Earth”, on Saturday nights. Other special theme evenings are offered as well. This is the location of the well known Buffet Breakfast.
In the morning soft monastery style music is played whilst breakfast is being served. Early risers, many on their way to Machu Picchu, enjoy a terrific breakfast buffet serenaded by Gregorian chants.

Illary Restaurant
is adjacent to the Main Square/Courtyard with a view onto the Main Patio and intimate ambiance. It is open for lunch and dinner and will charm you with its unique atmosphere and distinctive Peruvian and International Orient Express Cuisine, created by Chef Michael Raas.. It is decorated with paintings from the ancient Cuzco seminary and is the ideal place to enjoy a light meal or snack as well as a superb dinner. Open 24 hours.

The Kataris Bar
