Description

Qelqatani, Quechua for “written in stone”, is a reference to the pre-historic rock paintings found in the nearby province of Chucuito. While the majority of these ancient cultural manifestations have long since been ransacked, a few remain as a testament to Puno’s ancestors. The Qelqatani Hotel was established with the idea of being a refuge, or safe haven away from home, as the Qelqatani archeological site undoubtedly once was.

This attractive 4-story building invites guests in with a sunny exterior and brightly lit, cozy lobby. Décor throughout the hotel is characterized by white walls accentuated by polished wooden trimmings and richly colored walls. Carpeting throughout the hotel adds a cozy element to the venue and is very practical given Puno’s chilly weather.
