Description

Dedicated to environmental conservation, this lodge offers great opportunities to discover the beautiful rainforest and its exotic inhabitants. Guests arrive via a 45-minute boat ride from the port of Puerto Maldonado. Expert naturalist guides are present on-site and provide guided tours in the lodge’s reserve, from canopy and nature walks to boat excursions on the Sandoval Lake and jungle expeditions in the Tampobata Reserve. There is also a well-appointed spa for guests to relax in.

The common space of the lodge is located in the central Amazon Pavilion, a circular, two-story lounge and dining room. Both practical and beautiful, the Amazon Pavilion features rustic furniture built by local craftspeople using local wood. The upstairs areas, with large balconies overlooking the Madre de Dios River and the surrounding jungle, are ideal for an afternoon tea or evening cocktail. Hammocks and large sofas next to screened picture windows complete the relaxing atmosphere.

In addition, the beautifully lantern-lit restaurant makes for a cozy retreat where guests can enjoy delicious meals made from the freshest local produce. Using native techniques, the restaurant’s talented chefs create innovative and exquisite dishes.

Room Amenities

With ecology in mind, Reserva Amazonica provides the most luxurious accommodations in the Amazon. The lodge comprises 35 comfortable thatched-roofed cabañas (jungle cabins) constructed with local natural materials. They are nicely furnished with log chairs, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, and private bathrooms. Be aware that hot water is only available at certain times of the day, and there is no electricity in the cabins. Walkways are lit with candles and guests are provided with lanterns for the duration of their stay. 

For the ultimate luxury jungle experience, choose between the 4 spacious suites built on stilts.  Boasting screen porches, hammocks, warm showers, low-impact electricity, and ceiling fans, suites are especially comfortable. Guests will also find organic bath products, bath robes, and slippers in their suite cabin.

The latest addition to the lodge is the Canopy Tree House. Built on a private platform adjoining the Canopy Walkway over 90 feet (27 meters) above the ground, the house provides for an exclusive and intimate experience in the Amazon jungle. Guests can admire wildlife, sleep to sounds of the rainforest, and enjoy true seclusion away from human life.
