Description
Inotawa Lodge’s concept is to incorporate visitor activities with local Amazon knowledge, since the Peru rainforest region is rich with cultural traditions and beliefs. Therefore, a stay at Inotawa Lodge includes the possibility to learn about local activities such as gold mining and Brazil nut harvesting, in addition to the traditional hikes and animals lookouts that comprise your Amazon experience.
The Inotawa Lodge has a network of trails that enables visitors to explore different types of jungle flora and fauna. One can see the different forms of native cultivation in the community of La Torre as well as other places along the Tambopata River such as the Colorado clay lick, the El Gato Waterfalls, and the Tres Chimbadas Lake. Inotawa Lodge works in partnership with the local community of La Torre to support the sustainable use of and eco-tourism in Tambopata.
Guides at the lodge are bilingual (Spanish and English) and are mainly naturalists and students interested in the study and conservation of nature. The lodge owns secure, fast boats used for transportation to Puerto Maldonado and for Amazon excursions. Operated by experienced navigators, they have a capacity for 15 people and are equipped with life jackets. For the most active guests, kayaks and bicycles are available, and rafting or fishing are also on offer.
Room Amenities
The lodge has 16 rooms with private bathrooms. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-ventilated. Rooms are composed entirely of beautifully-colored wooden panels and feature thatched rooftops. Beds are simple but cozy and are covered with colorful bedding. Amazon décor and lounging chairs complete the setting.
Lodge Services & Facilities
The lodge has a dining area, a bar, and a place for hammocks where guests can relax and listen to the sounds of the jungle. Everything was constructed out of traditional Amazon materials, and the palm leaf thatching, wood, and bamboo help the buildings blend into their jungle surroundings. The lodge area is maintained with medicinal and ornamental plants. As a family business ran by naturalists, the Inotawa Lodge focuses on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
