Dear Peru For Less
We just got back from a trip of a lifetime to Peru that we booked with your company. From the minute we got off the plane until we got back on a plane to go home again almost three weeks later, we were impressed daily at the attitude and work ethic of the Peru for Less staff.

Description
Refugio Amazonas is the perfect lodge if you have at least 4 days in the jungle. It is located about 2 hours down the river from Puerto Maldonado, deep in the heart of the rainforest, making it a great place to spot wildlife. From the lodge, guests can explore the enchanting primary forest surrounding the area and easily spot exotic flora and fauna.
Built with ecology in mind, Refugio Amazonas was constructed using exclusively natural local materials including wood, palm fronds, wild cane, and clay. Traditional techniques combined with modern technology make this lodge a comfortable and authentic Amazon retreat.
The lodge is separated into 4 wings of rooms connected by raised boardwalks to a central structure. Common areas are distributed over 2 floors and include the lobby, dining room, bar, gift shop, and lounge. The relaxing area is equipped with hammocks where you can rest and sip on a cocktail while enjoying breathtaking views of the canopy.
In keeping with its focus on the environment, Refugio Amazonas does not have electricity and light comes from the many candles and kerosene lamps scattered throughout the lodge.
Room Amenities
All 32 rooms are built with cane, perfectly blending in with the natural surroundings and making for cozy spaces to rest after a long day in the Amazon. The rooms have an open wall, putting the forest right at your fingertips to lull you to sleep every night. All rooms have comfortable beddings covered with mosquito nets and private bathrooms with cold water only. Be aware that the use of this type of light materials means that rooms are not soundproof.
Lodge Services & Facilities
The dining area is where guests enjoy delicious meals prepared only with the freshest local produce. All meals are self-serve 3 courses and generally comprise soup, appetizers, salad, main course, and dessert, combining Peruvian and international cuisines. Special diets can also be accommodated upon request. The lodge provides unlimited amounts of boiled, filtered, and cooled drinking water at all times, as well as delicious fresh juice during the meals. All fruits are carefully washed and disinfected before being served.
