Puerto Maldonado Lodge: Wasai Tambopata Lodge

The Wasai Tambopata Lodge is located on the banks of the Tambopata River in the heart of the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve. Located approximately 174 miles (120 kilometers) by river from Puerto Maldonado, the Tambopata Lodge offers 12.5 miles (20 kilometers) of forest trails around the lodge's bungalows that lead to local communities, waterfalls, and clay licks (called collpas).

Surrounded by primary rainforest, the Wasai Tambopata Lodge offers comfort in hand with close interaction with the surrounding rainforest. Due to the low population of people in the area and the lodge's close proximity to the Andes mountains, at the Wasai Tambopata Lodge you will experience an abundance of flora and fauna not seen in other areas.

Room Amenities

Accommodations at the Wasai Tambopata Lodge can house up to 40 people (4 large bungalows with 2-person rooms and private baths, mosquito nets, etc.; and 3 smaller 2-person bungalows). Bungalows are constructed in the traditional style of the region using wood with palm thatching which complements the rustic, jungle décor theme of the lodge. Beds are simple but comfortable with cool bed linens and a colorful throw blanket for those peculiar cold nights.

The Wasai Tambopata Lodge features a central lodge building that includes a dining area, a kitchen, bathrooms, common areas to relax, hammocks, and a research center with a library. After a long day of jungle excursions in the Peru Amazon, these spacious and tranquil common areas are the ideal place to unwind.
