Photo of the Week: Stranger Than Fiction
In 2009, photographer Ana Castañeda Cano captured the bizarre appearance of an unknown character, seemingly unfazed by his own nudity, striding down Avenida Luzuriaga in Huaraz, Peru. Huaraz is located about 260 miles north of Lima in the Callejón de Huaylas valley. Adventure and nature seekers come here to hike, rock climb and visit the glaciers of the Cordillera Blanca. The snow peak of Huascarán, considered to be the highest mountain in the tropics, is another highlight of this region and accessible from Huaraz.
Britt is addicted to the spontaneous nature of travel and personal growth it inspires. She bought a one-way ticket to South America in 2012, starting her journey in Argentina and slowly traveled north through Chile, Bolivia, and Peru. Unable to shake her addiction of Latin America, she now happily calls Peru home.
