Photo of the Week: Ocean-bathed Culture
Whereas some destinations offer “culture” on display in a museum exhibit, in Peru, the thriving indigenous culture is available not just for distant observation, but for up-close interaction and appreciation. And here, on the beaches of Lima‘s Costa Verde, culture is just a toe’s tip away.
Photographer Ana Castañeda Cano captured the essence of Peru’s cultural contrast and connectivity in this photo, which won first prize at the Concurso de fotografia, UNIFEM Región Andina in Quito, Ecuador, 2010.
Page has worked and traveled extensively through Argentina. Her paired love of the Spanish language and Latin American culture have put this region of the world high on her list. The vibrant and welcoming people, incredible landscapes that offer everything from seascapes to mountain highlands and exquisite cuisines are just a few of the things that keep her coming back.
