Traveler Review: A Peruvian Getaway

Machu Picchu, Peru, Peru For Less“It takes 2 plane rides, a train, a bus and several van rides to get to Machu Picchu, but it was worth it.”

Last December the Harsy family traded Chicago’s bone-chilling winter for a dose of warmer temperatures and culture in Peru. With Machu Picchu at the top of their must-see list, travel advisor Kelly C. helped the family customize a memorable getaway with stops in Lima, Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Our team was thrilled to hear that the Harsy family loved Peru and we enjoyed the travel photos they shared in their travel review.

Words from the Harsy family

“Dear Kelly,

We loved our trip to Peru. Thank you so much for your help.  Everything that you and Peru For Less promised went smoothly.  I’m so grateful for your hard work and the efforts of the other PFL folks. Each person that we encountered was organized and friendly, and I’d strongly recommend Peru For Less to others. If we ever have the chance to return to South America, your website will be my first step to making our plans!

Each part of our trip was spectacular! Today we will have a high of -8 degrees in Chicago. I’m ready to go back to Peru!

Thanks again!

Leonard H.”

The Harsy family sent us some awesome travel photos.  Thankfully Leonard H. provided some helpful narrative to accompany each picture.

“It was exciting to finally get to Machu Picchu,” said Leonard. “Behind me is Huayna Picchu, the mountain we climbed.”

The Harsy family is almost to the top of Huayna Picchu in this photo.

“A lot of the trail had steep slippery rocks with greenery on the edge to give you a false sense of security,” he said. “In some parts there were metal ropes to hold onto: I loved those ropes!”

“This couple took a break on the way up the mountain to look down on Machu Picchu and the road that the bus takes up to the Inca ruins on the opposite mountain.  The bus ride up and down the mountain is better than anything at an amusement park!”

This photo they shared details the prominent Inca terraces at Machu Picchu. For more information about these famous Inca ruins, read A traveler’s guide to Machu Picchu Sights.

“We stopped for an Alpaca demonstration in a mountain village,” said Leonard H. “Yes, I got an alpaca sweater vest!”
