Our team at Latin America for Less is always eager to hear back from travelers after their adventures. Learning about the highlights of their trip make us happy, and receiving photos from their journey is the icing on the cake! Expert travel advisor, Amanda H., worked with Rick and Dan to help them plan the adventure of a lifetime to Peru. They wrote Amanda shortly after returning home, telling her that they already miss Peru dearly and will be planning a return trip back to visit soon. The Salktantay Trek to Machu Picchu was the trip highlight, but their awesome hotels made their sleep off the trail very comfortable!
Dan and I got back to the UK. Everything is good, but we are missing Peru dearly. I miss everything in Peru: the food, the people, the sunny weather, the breathtaking scenery, and the markets. Before this trip I knew nothing about Peru, but now I’m in love with the country.
Having traveled extensively, I’ve never seen boat, taxi, bus & air travel sewn up so well anywhere in the world (not even in the UK!). By Day 2 I was completely carefree, and I was assured that everything was in hand. The itinerary you planned was exactly what I asked for and highly personalized to my needs.
I want to sincerely thank you for planning this great trip. I especially want to thank you for picking us up at the airport in Lima and going through our itinerary with us. I have a lot to tell you about our trip and I don’t even know where to start because we did so many things.
All the hotels were beautiful, unique and perfect in different ways. The Casa Andina Private Collection Isla Suasi at Lake Titicaca had the most perfect scenery and activities. The tour around Lake Titicaca with Isla Suasi was nice and we had our own speed boat from the hotel. The hotel staff were great, and really went out of their way to make our visit special. While staying at the hotel we went canoeing, swimming, stargazing, and watched the sunset on the island’s peak.
In Colca Canyon, we stayed at Colca Lodge. The lodge has the most amazing property and privately owned hot springs. We spent ages just walking around the hotel along the river. I also hugged an alpaca at the alpaca farm there. In the evenings we sat in the hot springs while watching the stars. Dan also had the best chocolate mousse of his life in this hotel.
El Pueblo in Aguas Calientes was the most beautiful hotel, and it was a pity we stayed for only one night. Our room had a view of the mountain, which was such a treat after doing the Salkantay trek. The bar and restaurant at El Pueblo is absolutely beautiful and the food is out of this world.
Out of everything I loved the Salkantay trek and visiting Machu Picchu the best. The Salkantay trek was a once in a lifetime experience for me and I loved every moment of it. I loved camping under the snowcapped mountain, walking in the rainforest overlooking the river, and visiting the hot springs in the town of Santa Teresa, and walking along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes. I especially enjoyed having Ryan and Abbey in our group. Everyone in the hiking group became friends and I really enjoyed having Ryan and Abbey, travel advisors at Latin America For Less, on the trek. After talking with both of them I can tell they have genuine passion for what they do.
Thank you again for this wonderful trip and all the perfect memories. We will certainly be recommending Peru for Less to friends, and I’m certain we will be back for more.
