Earlier this year Jeff L. and his mother embarked on a whirlwind tour of Peru and Argentina. With the expertise of travel advisor Matt G., they planned a trip with stops in Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, and Buenos Aires. They came, saw, and experienced many of South America’s best highlights.  Back at home in New York, Jeff wrote our team and shared the highlights of their travel experiences and expressed a desire to come back for a second dose of South American adventure.

South America exploration, from Peru to Argentina

“Hi Matt,

My mom and I had a thoroughly splendid time.  Everything you set-up worked perfectly; the flights/trains, the airport transfers, the hotels (Casa Andina in Cusco being absolutely the best), and the tour guides and drivers (shout-outs to Marcelo in Rio, Diego in Iguazu Falls, Elisa and Diana in Buenos Aires, both Fabricios in Cusco/Machu Picchu and Omar in Lima, for being excellent and thoughtful guides).  I don’t think we’ve been so well taken care of on any other trip – we felt quite spoiled!

I’m very glad we added additional time in both Buenos Aires and, especially Machu Picchu.

Since we booked during the rainy season, unsurprisingly, after touring the site about an hour later, we encountered a downpour!  But, the next morning, I was able to hike Huayna Picchu in the sun, while mom explored the site some more.  (The Huayna Picchu hike was, for me, the absolute highlight of the trip.)  And the El Mapi Hotel – with its all-inclusive dinner and free drinks – was a very nice place to stay in Aguas Calientes – a town otherwise, pretty much a tourist trap!

I was also quite happy with the Aspen Square Hotel in B.A. – it was great to be in Palermo. We had a terrific steak dinner at Don Julio and both of us walked around the neighborhood. Since I’m a New Yorker, it was great to be a couple of blocks from the Subte, which proved an easy and inexpensive way to get to the heart of the city.

My mom and I would unhesitatingly recommend Latin America For Less to any of our friends/colleagues who might want to travel in that part of the world.  And who knows?  There’s a lot more of South America to explore – we might be getting in touch with you again!

Much thanks,

Jeff L.”
