I'm Laura OldsTravel Advisorlaurao@latinamericaforless.com

I was raised on a small farm in upstate New York and discovered my passion for traveling early on. During college, I went on service trips to Peru and Colombia and studied abroad in Costa Rica. Upon graduating, I joined the Peace Corps and completed my three-year service in Panama. Since then, South America has been a big part of my life; I lived in Lima, Peru for two years and traveled to all of the countries that we work with. Travel continues to be a huge life passion of mine and I enjoy supporting others in creating the travel experiences of their dreams.

My Peru and Ecuador Travel Tips and Recommendations:

Permits for certain treks like the Inca Trail and Huayna Picchu sell out months in advance. Aim to secure your permits 6+ months before your travel dates to avoid availability issues.

Peru is a culinary mecca. Taking a cooking class in Lima or Cusco is a great way to learn about the ingredients used in Peruvian cuisine and to bring a new recipe home.

It's good to be prepared for the high altitude, but don’t let the fear of altitude sickness deter you from traveling to high altitude areas. Most people who get altitude sickness feel only mild symptoms that clear up with some time and rest.
