I'm Megan McKennaTravel Advisormegan@latinamericaforless.com

While studying psychology and Spanish at GCSU in Georgia where I grew up, I traveled to the beautiful villages, mountains, and beaches of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua. After graduating, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Peru and gained a strong appreciate for the country’s local culture and breathtaking attractions. I returned to the US and got my Masters at Georgia State, but returned to Peru and lived in Lima for a few years. Riding the sand dunes in Ica and hiking to waterfalls in Chanchamayo are among my top travel experiences in Peru!

My Peru and Ecuador Travel Tips and Recommendations:

Don’t forget to bring your passport with you to Machu Picchu (it’s required). At the entrance of the Incan ruins, you can add a special Machu Picchu stamp in your passport!

Having a free day in Cusco is a great way to adjust to the altitude and explore the Inca heritage of the city.

There are other breathtaking destinations, not only Machu Picchu. If you have extra time, explore other areas of Peru - visit the mountain destinations of Huaraz or Cajamarca, go sand duning in the desert of Ica and Paracas, or spend time in the Amazon Rainforest.
