What the American Hiram Bingham did in 1911, you can do in 21st century comfort. You can rediscover the lost sun-god temple of the Incas - Machu Picchu. When the Incas decided to build Machu Picchu, they chose a heavenly place. So, in a certain way, the Inca Trail is a road to heaven. Many hikers consider it to be the most wonderful trail on earth. The 2 day Inca Trail allows you to take an easy, 1 day hike to Machu Picchu, without having to deal with the rustic side of the traditional Inca Trail. This shorter hike is accessible for all ages, and doesn't require you to be in top physical shape. Since your one day hike takes you to the town of Aguas Calientes, you will not have to camp, or carry backpacks. You instead will have your choice of 3, 4, and 5 star hotels- including the 5 star El Pueblo and Sanctuary Lodge hotels! Although you will not hike the entire trail, you will get to visit the impressive Wiñay Wayna ruins, meditating baths, and small waterfall; only Inca Trail hikers get to enjoy these ruins! Upon your arrival to Machu Picchu, you will observe the ruins from the Sun Gate- Inti Punku (literally, the door of the sun). And perhaps best of all, after your relaxing night's sleep in a comfortable hotel, you will have an early private tour of Machu Picchu, avoiding the large crowds that arrive later in the morning on the trains from Cuzco!
Please let us know as soon as possible if interested in the Inca Trail. It can get booked up quickly as the number of people entering the trail daily is restricted. Only 500 people per day are allowed to enter the 4-Day Inca Trail or the 2- Day Inca Trail. Permits are regulated by local authorities and it is best to secure your Inca Trail permit at least 3 months in advance. In the high season (June/July/August) it is best to secure your Inca Trail permit at least 5 months in advance. If you are seriously considering hiking the Inca Trail, contact us for more information; it is never too soon to book.
