Traveled to: Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu
Everything exceeded my expectations: the punctuality, the reliability, the quality of the suggested hotels, and the quality of the guides.
They say that you get what you pay for, but sometimes you get more than you pay for. In fact, sometimes you get more when you pay less.
After some initial online research, my wife and I selected a few of the most promising organizations who can arrange tours to Machu Picchu, and we put out bait to each one of them. Within less than a week it became clear to us that Peru-for-Less had not only the lowest prices, but also the richest offer. They were also the fastest to reply and to propose a very precise plan fashioned by our wishes. And they also made suggestions. Moreover, they were very quick to modify and adjust that plan as we continuously changed our original ideas, once we became more educated during the process.
As my wife remarked to me during our flight home, "everything exceeded my expectations." "Everything" here refers to the punctuality (all the pick-ups and transfers to and from airports, hotels and train stations), the reliability, the quality of the suggested hotels, and last not least also the quality of the "guides." The latter were not just some "tourist guides" in the usual sense of the word, but actually academics and researches who were established authorities in their field. They were of course fluent in English and seemingly LOVED to open our minds to the amazing world of the Incas. On 2 occasions — a 4-hour tour of Cusco and surroundings, and a whole-day excursion to the Scared Valley — our schedule specified that we would join a "group tour." But the "group" we joined on both occasions was a group of 4, my wife and I + 2 other tourists from South Africa.
We had no plans to actually test the 24-hour availability and the extent of dedication of the Peru-for-Less staff, but that is what I wound up doing during our last night in Cusco and our final day in Lima. During that last night in Cusco I fell ill, perhaps a case of altitude sickness. So I called the Peru-for-Less representative in the middle of the night and told her that, after our morning flight to Lima, it may make more sense for me to see a doctor than take a city tour. She said she would arrange something. We were already somewhat resigned to a disappointing ending, to spending the hours set aside for the city tour in the waiting room of some Peruvian clinic…. But the driver who picked us up at the Lima airport informed us that he would take us directly to our hotel where a doctor would see me. At the hotel I was met by two medics who arrived in an ambulance that was a hospital on wheels. Within 20 minutes they had reduced my astronomical blood pressure down to normal numbers, put me back on my legs, and then ordered me to eat a plate of soup. After that, the bus from the City Tour stopped by the hotel to pick us up.
The old Inca capital of Cusco, the breathtaking "Sacred Valley," and the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu are all overwhelming, each in their own right. But they can all be even more overwhelming after Peru-for-Less has done their trick of dressing them up a little for you.

I can say for sure that one can definitely depend on Latin America For Less!
Here is my report of the glorious trip you had planned for my party and me in South America. I have to admit that, before the trip began, I had experienced some apprehension, wondering if everything planned would be carried out as promised or… would we encounter one difficulty after another? I wasn’t very certain so I could not assure my friends that things would be all right! Now that I’m back, I can say for sure that one can definitely depend on Latin America For Less!
Your itinerary specially tailored for us really did work like clockwork from the moment we met our first tour representative in Rio de Janeiro all the way to our last destination before we flew to Sao Paulo from Lima! Thank you so much for offering us such professional advice and service! Everyone involved was friendly, punctual and efficient. The moment we exited at an airport, there was always someone waiting to greet us and bring us to our hotel. When it came time for us to leave a place for the airport, the same service was given. We were never left stranded, wondering who would meet us, as your representatives were always there before us! Truly, I am so glad I sought your advice before making my trip to South America!
The hotels you had booked for us were also good! Some were quaint and homely while others were more modern. Whatever kind of hotel we were in there was always a nice, clean bed to sleep in and a TV to catch up with the latest news.
An incident I would like to make mention of is the one that you had earlier written to Dick (Nee Khuen) about; the lost camera. You had followed up on this issue and made enquiries with Peru Rail regarding its retrieval. Thank you so much for doing your part in helping us locating the camera. It was indeed a big blow to Dick and Nah Nee to have lost it. Imagine all the beautiful and precious photos they have taken going into ‘thin air’ at the end of their trip. That could have ‘marred’ their otherwise wonderful trip to some extent.
Among all the great sights we had covered, I must say that the Perito Moreno Glacier was most outstanding. We had the opportunity to come pretty close to that huge river of ice thanks to the ride in the catamaran that was included in our tour. I have attached two photos of our memorable tour and you can see for yourself the wonderful places we had visited which made all that travel to South America worthwhile.
Once again, it has been my privilege and pleasure to have corresponded with you on the planning of this ‘once in a lifetime’ trip and I am most grateful for all the help and advice you have given to all our queries. I will strongly recommend you and your team at Latin America For Less to all my friends who wish to embark on such a trip in the future. In fact, ever since my return, my sister (she was the one who had told me to write to Latin America For Less after she had accidentally discovered your website while surfing the net), has been receiving feedback from me as she intends to make a similar trip to Argentina with her friends, sometime in the future. Furthermore, Nah Nee’s brother will be visiting South America in a few months and I am sure he will be seeking advice from Nah Nee regarding the planning of his trip. We intend to recommend you and your company, so be on the lookout for more Singaporeans writing to you for travel advice and making you their Trip Advisor!!
Here’s wishing you all the best for the future!

Thank you Peru For Less and Rylee for making my last minute adventure such a smashing success!
Thanks again so much for taking such good care of me out there! Things have been pretty hectic since I got back here – but it’s all good.
Ok here’s my glowing review of your fine services!
When I set my itinerary for travel in Peru I had a very clear vision of exactly what kind of trip I wanted: an active adventure immersed in nature and culture. With this vision driving my actions and 24 hours before I flew to my South American destination- I emailed Peru for Less with a slightly frantic message- “Please help me plan my entire 2 week trip to Peru within the next hour and a half. Thanks.” Within minutes I had a reply from Rylee, a salesgirl from Peru for Less. She quickly became my little guardian travel angel, reading my mind and sending itineraries tailored to my exact desires. She went well beyond the call of duty, answering all my questions and even taking her computer home with her so she could work after hours to answer any more of my questions and finalize my last minute itinerary. Rylee called me at the airport the next morning to assure me that a representative from Peru for Less would be at the airport in Lima to greet me upon my arrival and I got on the plane feeling confident that all my travel needs would be taken care of. Peru was incredible, everything I needed it to be. Thank you Peru For Less and Rylee for making my last minute adventure such a smashing success! Call me if you come to Los Angeles and I’ll show you around my town!
Thanks a lot! Parvati

What we think makes your company stand out is your customer service and dedication.
Our trip was incredible. For one, we love Mesoamerican culture and history, so staying in Cusco, and being able to see the Spanish architecture built upon the ancient Inca foundations was absolutely amazing. Every moment in Peru was simply one gasping moment after another, and it really seemed like every place we went, from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, was more amazing than the last!
Your company did a fantastic job, from helping us to plan our trip, to saving our lives at the airport in Juliaca. We don’t even want to imagine the hell we would have gone through had we not been able to get on that plane. Anytime you need help in a tight spot, you know who to call. What we think makes your company stand out however is your customer service and dedication. At each one of our hotels, there was a message waiting for us in the evening, with the time of when we would be picked up the next day. The people in Peru were very considerate, and took to great lengths to guarantee that we were comfortable and knew what was going on in every situation.
There wasn’t a single point during the entire trip that we felt lost or abandoned; on the contrary, you showed more concern for our well-being than even some of our own family would show, and we want to tell you, it was greatly appreciated.
Anyways, in a nutshell, you rock, Peru for Less is awesome, and the second we have enough money to visit Argentina for a month, we’ll be in touch. Thanks again, and we’ll hopefully see you in the future!

One of our fondest memories was our meal with you at Tanta Restaurant.. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with us and introduce us to Peru.
We would like to thank you for arranging such a wonderful Peru trip. One thing for sure, a trip to Peru is a memorable and exciting adventure. We found the people to be colorful, charming, and ever willing to share their beautiful country with strangers. Now back in Colorado, we think back to all the sights, sounds and tastes we enjoyed.
One of our fondest memories was our meal with you at Tanta Restaurant. We have never tasted such wonderful fish prepared in so many different ways. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with us and introduce us to Peru.
The jungle segment at Posada Amazonas was terrific–the Ese’ejas people and Rainforest Expeditions were gracious hosts. The Posada lodge was wonderful, but there is no way we could have prepared for the intensity and lush vegetation of the jungle. We loved the wildlife at Posada, and found the sights and sounds of the jungle exhilarating.
We loved the Nazca adventure, and seeing the geo-glyphs from the six-seater Cessna was great. As was the boat ride to see all the marine and bird life at Ballestas Islands. The Uros and Taquile communities on Lake Titicaca were also so interesting to visit, and the residents there were such a delight.
Cusco and Machu Picchu were certainly the highlights of our trip. Even though we read books and have seen documentaries of the Inca Ruins, nothing prepared us for the immensity, lushness, and location of the ruin. Seeing the ruin as the morning mist cleared was so memorable.
We felt fortunate that our Sacred Valley tour was on a Sunday, as both the Pisac and Chinceros Indian Markets were in full swing. We loved the textiles, alpaca sweaters, and crafts. Additionally, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman and Ollantaytambo are not to be missed.
PeruRail provided excellent service, and the trains were well maintained and comfortable. The scenery along both the Machu Picchu and Cusco to Puno routes was outstanding–following along the rush and roar of the Urubamba River as we descended toward Machu Picchu from Cusco was great, as well as the views of the Andes with large flocks of llama and alpaca en route to Puno.
Again, thank you for assisting us while in Peru, and for making the arrangements necessary for a memorable trip. All of the agents and guides were knowledgeable, courteous, and very helpful. We would be most pleased to recommend your company and services to other Peru travelers and look forward to sharing pictures of Peru with friends and family.

In thinking about the mechanics of trip, I think it was the little things that amazed us the most.. Your attention to detail is uncanny and obviously why you are so good in the travel profession.
First, thank you for your kind email we received as soon as we arrived home. I couldn’t email right away because I would have written so much you would still be reading. Beyond that, I needed to step away so I could wrap my brain around all the adventures we experienced in the last three weeks and try to put them in perspective.
First, Rick and I want to tell you how much we appreciate everything you did to make our South American trip absolutely fabulous. Your name came up probably every other day while on the trip because we were in such awe at every minute detail you incorporated into our itinerary to make the experience flawless.
As far as we are concerned, you created the perfect itinerary for us. You asked which experiences we liked the most, but it is impossible to choose; each one was outstanding in its own right. If pushed, I think we enjoyed the natural attractions more than big cities, although we found Santiago, Lima, Arequipa, and Cusco very interesting and are very thankful we visited them.
In thinking about the “mechanics” of trip, I think it was the little things that amazed us the most and probably why we had such a memorable time. We were amazed that we never had to wait for a driver or guide. After adding up the number of times we were picked up and delivered from trains, planes, buses, and hotels, we were all the more impressed. Your attention to detail is uncanny and obviously why you are so good in the travel profession.
The hotels you recommended were ALL outstanding and fit our personality and needs perfectly. Each hotel was well located and charming; they seemed to take on the culture and flavor of the city. We especially enjoyed Hotel O’Tai in Easter Island, La Hacienda Bahia Paracas, Casona Solar in Arequipa, and La Casa de Mamayacchi in Colca Valley. The hotels in the larger cities could not have been nicer and we appreciated how the location allowed us to walk and sightsee with ease.
Every one of our guides was outstanding. We were very impressed with their knowledge; not just on the history of Peru, but its culture, traditions, education, and lifestyles. The other thing that was special about each of our guides was how proud they were of their country and their own heritage within the country. It was such a sincere pride of wanting to share their wonderful country with the rest of the world. One example was our guide in Arequipa who showed us some wonderful “local” sights and taught us all about the unusual fruits and vegetables and traditions of the marketplace.
Two of our most memorable guides were Richard, who escorted us on our overnight trip on Amantani Island in Lake Titicaca and Edgar, our guide on the Inca Trail. I’m sure they stand out because we were with them for multiple days and got to know them much better than the rest of our guides, but they were so professional, passionate, patient, and knowledgeable they motivated us to want to seek out more and more from them. I was very worried we would have trouble on the Inca Trail trek, but Edgar was so positive and easy going that once we got started on the hike, the worries faded and we focused on the incredible experience of the trek. We had rain everyday on the trek, but while we couldn’t see some of the vistas, Edgar kept our interest up by pointing out birds, identifying flowers and trees, and giving us a deeper understanding of the Incan civilization – he was fantastic. Richard, on the other hand, helped us view the people on Amantani and Taquille very honestly – not as poor people, but as very content and happy people living a tranquil healthy life. It was so refreshing because instead of feeling sorry for these people, we came away thinking they were living life the right way. Through all our guides and the experiences they gave us, the number one thing we have taken with us from our Peru trip is a true appreciation and respect of the Peruvian people.
Kelly, I could continue, probably forever, telling you every little detail of our trip because it was so exciting, but realize it is all old news to you. Please, just know that we are forever indebted to you and your expertise in affording us one of the most memorable trips we have ever been lucky enough to experience.

From the moment we arrived to our departure from Cusco, Peru For Less took care of us.
We can’t thank you enough for helping to create such a memorable experience for us in Peru. From the moment we arrived to our departure from Cusco, Peru for Less took care of us. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and truly excited about our visit. I have no idea how they keep that enthusiasm up for each person that visits this great country, but they did and it was awesome. We arrived in Lima at 10 p.m. and were immediately greeted by a friendly face and informative person to guide us to our hotel. All of the lodging picked by Peru for Less was wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised at each spot. Also, each hotel we stayed in was really ideal to each location.
We went on many tours and each was lead by extremely knowledgeable tour guides who again, had a wonderful passion for their country. In the Amazon, Explorama Lodge was awesome. We felt that we were in the rain forest but with a group of excited explorers. We hung out on the hammocks, went for a few hikes, watched the sunset over the Amazon, went fishing for piranhas and saw countless creepy but interesting bugs!! This was by far, the best food we had during the trip. We liked how everyone staying at the lodge got together for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was a great opportunity to meet others traveling. The staff there was also exceptional. Many had worked for the company since its creation and truly cared about showcasing the rainforest. The thing I liked most about the Explorama company is that they are deeply committed to preserving the rainforest.
Cusco was such a pleasant surprise. The town was great to stay in, full of things to do, shopping, great restaurants, etc. The bed and breakfast we stayed in, Casa San Blas, was great. The service was wonderful. After we got back from Aguas Calientes, they had warmers in our beds so we could relax after our days at Machu Picchu. They also had a very good breakfast.
In Aguas Calientes, we had a good hotel with an awesome view of the Urubamba River. Aguas Calientes was a small, easy to get around in town. For dinner, we found a place called tree tops and hands down, it was awesome! Go there for dinner when you are here! We highly recommend it! And while in Aguas Calientes, we went to Machu Picchu, which was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide, Darwin, was awesome. I’m pretty sure he said he had written many books about Machu Picchu.
When we got to the end of our trip, we were so amazed at how smoothly everything went and it was all thanks to Peru for Less. They really have excellent local vendors that made the trip amazing. Also, prior to the trip, Matt was helpful in nailing down our schedule and helping us to experience as much as possible in the time we had. All of our communication was done via email and his response turnaround was great. I don’t think we went more than a day without an answer to any question.

We selected Peru For Less to handle all arrangements and we are truly grateful!
Our trip was fantastic! We really appreciate the professional manner in which Peru For Less handled ALL arrangements for our visit to Peru. What a wonderful experience!
Although all of us had traveled extensively and always without using a travel service, we felt Peru might be a special challenge due to the languages and topography. We did not want to waste our time finding our way around such a varied and difficult landscape. So we selected Peru For Less to handle all arrangements and we are truly grateful! You ALWAYS provided expert guides…Juliaca, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Lima…we were met on time everywhere and escorted to our hotels or taken directly on a tour.
Your personnel were always there on time, knew exactly what they were doing, helped us with travel, restaurants, and every accommodation. The Aranwa hotel in Cusco was OUTSTANDING. Many thanks for arranging this. We loved Hatun Inti in Machu Picchu as well. THANK YOU so much for all of your assistance in planning the trip, your recommendations, and your check-ups while traveling.
We could not have asked for more personal or professional service. Plus, two of us had to delay our departure to Peru for four days due to illness, and the free travel insurance Peru For Less offered through iTravelInsured completely reimbursed us for all expenses (almost $1,000) related to our delayed departure.
Rylee, your personal assistance in accommodating the desires of six travelers was exceptional. We all thank you for making our trip so memorable.
