No matter your path, your Peru honeymoon will open your heart and enthrall your senses.
Exploring the longest mountain range in the world with your special someone can be quite a majestic experience. This is because the Peruvian Andes are bursting with famed destinations, including the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu, the culturally-rich Sacred Valley, and the historic city of Cusco.

There is an undeniable aura of mystery and romance that surrounds the Amazon rainforest. In every giant Ceiba tree and pink river dolphin; in the fresh mangoes and passion fruit; in the native local communities, there is a magnificent story waiting to unfold. What better place to grow in love than the largest rainforest on earth?
Imagine relaxing in a cozy, private cabaña, hand-in-hand with your companion, looking out into pristine jungle. Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to the southern Peruvian amazon, with beautiful lodges nestled along the Madre de Dios river within the Tambopata National Reserve.
The Madre de Dios River is part of the vast Amazon River watershed feeding oxbow lakes and meandering tributaries; and the Tambopata National reserve is a protected area bustling with macaws, squirrel monkeys, sloths, ocelots, giant otters, and more.
Possible excursions include a dugout canoe trip to Lake Sandoval, a canopy walk 95 feet above the forest floor, romantic twilight river paddles, catch-and-release fishing, and visits to local farms, cacao plantations, and communities to learn the native way of life.
If you prefer to honeymoon directly on the Amazon River itself, head to the Iquitos area for a dreamy multi-day river cruise through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Here you can indulge in panoramic river views directly from your luxury cabin and partake in a variety of exciting jungle activities.
Touch the sky from the highest navigable body of water in the world. The epicenter of Andean folklore, Lake Titicaca is said to be the “Birthplace of the Incas.” Your getaway in the clouds presents numerous opportunities to interact with the lake itself and the people who call it home.
Travelers access Lake Titicaca via the quaint city of Puno, a place known for its immense cultural festivals of dance, music, and storytelling, notably the month-long Fiesta de la Virgen de Candelaria.
From the city, launch into the lake to revel in the spectacular scenery and visit unique islands. Highlights include Taquile Island, where you can hike to a viewpoint and enjoy the local plaza and market; and the floating, man-made Uros Islands, where you can learn about the local traditions and explore the impressive homes, boats, and the islands themselves made entirely from totora reeds.
From here, you can spend the night at an opulent lakeside resort or a rustic homestay. At the lakeside resort, spend some alone time with your sweetie taking in the vistas, relaxing in the spa, and kayaking. At the homestay, connect with a host family, enjoy a warm home-cooked meal, and tour a local temple.
A modern South American city on the Pacific with some of the best food in the world? Lima is the perfect spot for intimate moments rounded off with delicious meals. The capital of Peru, this city is a melting pot with European, Andean, Asian, and African influence—and a blend of interesting bohemian, cosmopolitan, commercial, and historic districts.
Typically honeymooners stay in the financial district of San Isidro, the artsy neighborhood of Barranco, or the coastal metropolis of Miraflores. Accommodations throughout the districts range from adorable boutique to luxury 5 star.
Must-see stops include El Malecón, which is 2+ miles of continuous parks that overlook the ocean; Larcomar, an open concept, ocean-view shopping mall with many shops and restaurants; Larco Museo, an impressive museum with pre-Columbian art and artifacts; Huaca Pucllana, expansive ancient ruins located right in the city; Parque Kennedy, a tourist hotspot in the heart of Miraflores; and Centro, the historic center of Lima, highlighted by Spanish colonial architecture, gorgeous cathedrals, intriguing museums, and the government palace.Read more about Parque Kennedy.
Going back to food, Lima actually has 3 restaurants listed on the top 50 restaurants in the world. You can visit these lavish locales or enjoy one of the many other food experiences, including cooking classes, gastronomic tours, wine and cheese tastings, and chocolate making workshops.Discover the Lima Restaurant Guide
All kinds of magic await in the coastal deserts of Peru. Playful marine life, towering dunes, mystifying geoglyphs, and yummy pisco set the stage for a fun and uplifting experience. The Ica desert is most famously known for the Paracas National Reserve, Ballestas Islands, and the Nazca Lines.
The Paracas National Reserve is a conservation zone for desert and marine ecosystems and is replete with wildlife, beautiful sand beaches, and 65 archaeological sites. The Ballestas Islands can be accessed by a tour boat from Paracas and serve as a sanctuary for marine fauna, including blue-footed boobies, Humboldt penguins, fur seals, and sea lions.
Created sometime between 500 BC and 500 AD, the Nazca Lines are an archaeological wonder. There are about 300 massive geoglyphic figures that cover more than 300 square miles. The mysterious lines can be viewed via an overflight of the area, with popular sightings being the hummingbird, monkey, and condor.
See all of this and more with your home base being a sumptuous waterfront resort in the fishing village of Paracas. Enjoy an exhilarating afternoon of dune buggy and sandboarding, stroll through the desert oasis of Huacachina, watch the sunset on the dunes with a bottle of wine, or visit a winery and learn the process of making Pisco, the national drink of Peru. The desert is ripe for post-wedding escapades.
Colca Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world—twice as deep as the Grand Canyon! The gateway to Colca Canyon is Arequipa, a beautiful city framed by 3 mighty volcanos. Known as “the white city,” many of the buildings are made from sillar, a gorgeous white volcanic stone. Relish in your time here by strolling the streets hand in hand—admiring the architecture and trying some delicious local meals before dipping into the canyon.
Whether you are looking for adventure or pure tranquility, Colca has it. You can take a hike led by a local villager, go horseback riding, or zipline across the canyon walls. Or, to get that rest you both deserve, take to one of the many hot springs and settle into an invigorating bath while taking in the mountain views by day and twinkling starlight by night. Some of the luxury lodges in the area even have their own hot springs and spa on site, making for a wellness retreat unlike anywhere else in the world.
On your tour of the canyon, you will have a chance to see the legendary Andean Condor, one of the largest flying birds in the world with a wingspan of 10 feet 6 inches. You will also travel through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, catching stunning vistas of volcanos, lagoons, and wild vicuñas (a smaller cousin of the llama).

“I would definitely recommend for the adventurous newlyweds activities such as zip-lining or a day trek, culinary activities like a cooking class or chocolate workshop, or even a community service day, depending on their interests. Then they are not only SEEING Peru but also making a fun memory of DOING something unique together.
Most importantly, don't be shy! Let us know you're celebrating. We would love to ensure your experience is all the more special.”
“As general advice, a couple's massage is a nice option at a 4-star or 5-star hotel. I think a great way to set it up is with a free day toward the end of the trip, regardless of the destination. Or, if they have a long trip and/or if they're coming off of a multi-day trek, building in a free day with a massage mid-trip is also a wonderful idea.”
“For those honeymooning on a budget, the honeymoon suite and panoramic suite in Rupa Wasi is amazing. I stayed in one of the suites when I went and had a tour of the area. It is beautiful. The panoramic suite is perched pretty high, and when you enter, you have really great views as well as a really nice bathtub. The other suite gives you your own porch. It is far enough away from the city center where you don't hear all the noise and bustle, and you can enjoy nature as there are a lot of surrounding trees.”
“My husband and I booked Peru for Less for our honeymoon in February 2019. Based upon an acquaintance's experience with Peru for Less, as well as my research of tour companies in Peru, I was confident that this Peru for Less was the best tour company for us, based on quality and affordability. All I can say is that our experience was AMAZING!!! We worked with Jackie Becker, one of the travel consultants with Peru for Less and she was extremely helpful, responsive, and accommodating in customizing the perfect itinerary for us. We went to Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. All of the hotels that Jackie recommended for us were in fantastic locations and were beautiful and clean. Additionally, all of our tours (both private and group) were excellent and the tour guides were all very knowledgable and passionate about their culture.
Jackie must have told the hotels that we were on our honeymoon because each hotel had a little something special for us upon arrival, wishing us a happy honeymoon. We were met at each site (picked up at airport and transportation to/from all tours, etc) by a Peru for Less representative, who was friendly and prompt in meeting us. We felt completely taken care of and not one detail was missed. We needed to use the Peru for Less emergency number one day (around 12 am) because my husband left his camera in one of the vans. They took care of the issue immediately and were very patient and helpful in getting the camera back to us.
We found the people of Peru to be very warm and inviting and just wonderful! We loved our time in Peru and could not have asked for a better honeymoon, thanks to Peru for Less. We are entirely grateful and would highly recommend Peru for Less to anyone! ”
“Thank you so much for your email. Gabriel and I had an amazing time— in fact, we both felt like this was one of the best vacations we’ve ever taken together. We got to see so many incredible places, and didn’t have to do too much in terms of planning. You made it so easy! All of our guides (especially Daniel in Tambopata & Fabrizio in Cusco) were outstanding. Our accommodations were wonderful- especially Refugio Amazonas. That was the most unique experience I’ve ever had. A tip for future Refugio Travelers, they conduct a separate night walk to study moths/night insects. It doesn’t sound super exciting, but you get to take an almost private walk with a resident biologist and then you get to collect moths. If you discover a new species, they will name it after you. It’s not well advertised, but if you attend all the biology lectures they’ll tell you about it. We really enjoyed doing that on our last night.
Again, I really want to thank you for all that you did for Gabriel and I. You made the whole planning process so easy (seriously, the hardest part was narrowing down the places to visit and which hotels sounded like the most fun!). I really appreciated the help when our flight got in earlier than expected! I have already started recommending you, and Peru for Less, to all of my friends considering visiting Peru. Gabriel and I had never considered using a travel agent before — given we usually love to search reviews and generally be flexible with our travel itinerary. If we hadn’t gone through you, I’m certain we wouldn’t have seen HALF the things on our own. ”
