Tambopata Research Center

Situated about a 3.5 hours boat from Puerto Maldonado

Tambobata Research Center is one of the most secluded jungle lodges in South America, and its name hints at what sets it apart from other overnight Amazon options. The remote location of the small-scale lodge offers travelers a truly intimate look at the jungle and also hosts researchers who study the surrounding rainforest ecosystems. Among many projects, the Tambopata Research Center is a hot spot for macaw conservations research. Designed using traditional native architecture to minimize impact on the environment, each of the simple but comfortable rooms are connected by raised wooden walkways to the common areas.
